Terms, in plain language

Last updated August 2026

This is a small, honest app for families who share the driving. These terms say what you can expect from us and what we ask of you - written so you can actually read them, not just scroll past them.

The short version. Joining a crew and using the core schedule is free forever. If you organize more than one crew, the second one onward costs $29 a year (about $2.50 a month), billed by Stripe. Nobody's account gets deleted or locked out to make you pay. Be decent to the other families in your crew. We can't promise the app is perfect, but we'll fix what's broken.

What this app is for

Carpool Crew coordinates who is driving which kids, when, between families who already know and trust each other. It is not a way to find or vet drivers you don't know - every family in a crew gets there because someone who already knows them added them.

Who can use it

Carpool Crew is for parents and guardians coordinating rides for their own children. You must be an adult to create a crew or a family account. Kid Mode - the read-only page a child can check on their own device - has no account, no login, and no age requirement, because it collects nothing from the child at all.

Free, and what stays free

Joining any number of crews as a member is free forever. Organizing one crew is free forever, including the invite link, cover requests, notifications, fair-share stats, and calendar sync. None of that is a trial - it does not expire and does not degrade.

Crew Plus

Crew Plus is exactly one thing: organizing more than one crew. It costs $29 a year, about $2.50 a month, or $4.99 billed monthly if you prefer - which comes to $59.88 a year, so the annual price is the cheaper one and we'd rather tell you that here than let you find out later. Only the organizer of a second-or-later crew pays; everyone else in every crew stays free. You can cancel anytime through the billing portal, and cancelling never deletes or locks anything you've already built - a lapsed crew simply can't add a new one until you're current again.

Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

Your account and your crew's data

You're responsible for what you type into the app about your own family. If you're a crew admin, you're trusted with some extra reach - you can add and remove families, and temporarily act as another family to help them - and we expect you to use that only to help your crew, not to act on someone's behalf without a real reason.

What we store and why is described in full on the privacy page - these terms don't repeat it.

Be decent to your crew

This app exists because carpools run on trust. Don't use it to harass, impersonate, or misrepresent another family. Don't share a family's personal join link outside that family, and don't use the "acting as" feature for anything other than genuinely helping another family in your crew.

No guarantees about drivers

Carpool Crew is a schedule, not a background-check service or an insurer. We don't vet drivers, verify licenses or insurance, or supervise rides. The families in a crew are responsible for the same judgment they'd use arranging a carpool by phone or text - this app just makes the schedule visible and fair.

What we can't promise

We work to keep the app reliable, but we can't promise it will never go down, never have a bug, or never lose a specific piece of data, and we're not liable for the ordinary consequences of a small app occasionally breaking. We will tell you plainly if something goes wrong, and we will fix it.

Ending your crew or your account

You can leave a crew, or - if you're its only admin - delete it, at any time from inside the app. Leaving or deleting archives your place in it rather than erasing it instantly; if you want your family's records fully and permanently erased, email us and we will do it. We reserve the right to suspend an account used to harass or endanger another family, but we will always tell you why.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll say so plainly and move the date at the top - no silent rewrites of what you agreed to.
